immigration detention compares&#8230;<\/p>\n<h4>for the past seven years, our writers, our cast, and our crew have been immersed in the world of prisons. federal. state. private. we\u2019ve toured them. <em>we\u2019ve<\/em> <em>read<\/em> about them. we\u2019ve listened as <em>former<\/em> inmates shared their stories, <em>cracking open<\/em> their <em>pain<\/em> and revealing the <em>scars<\/em> an unjust justice system had inflicted upon them. we <em>should have known<\/em> immigration detention would be the same. it\u2019s run by the same <em>fucking<\/em> people.<\/h4>\n<p><em><strong>read<\/strong><\/em> (pronounced &#8220;red&#8221;) is the irregular past participle of <em>read<\/em>. <strong><em>we&#8217;ve read<\/em><\/strong> is <a immigrant stories and how it is important for these stories to move people to action&#8230;<\/p>\n<h4>we hoped our immigration storylines this season would play a similar role in humanizing the immigrant experience to those who see us as subhuman. maybe I was <em>naive<\/em> to think this. but I have to believe that stories <em>amount to<\/em> something&#8230; while stories can help <em>spark<\/em> change, it\u2019s <em>up to<\/em> all of us to take that <em>spark<\/em> and start a <em>fucking<\/em> fire.<\/h4>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/bit.ly\/naive-definition\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em><strong>naive<\/strong><\/em><\/a> means <em>not sophisticated<\/em>, <em><a href=\"http:\/\/bit.ly\/lack-definition\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">lacking<\/a><\/em><em> experience or <\/em><em><a href=\"http:\/\/bit.ly\/wise-definition\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">wisdom<\/a><\/em>. <em><strong>amount to<\/strong><\/em> means <em>produce<\/em>, <em>become are being treated in the u.s.<\/p>\n<h4>for years, I thought I was making tv <em>solely<\/em> for an american audience, somehow forgetting how i myself was changed by american entertainment. how tv helped <em>shape<\/em> my own values. only after having written on this season of <i>orange<\/i> do i remember that it will cross borders. that it will provide people in countries like guatemala a real <em>glimpse<\/em> into the <em>promised land<\/em>, a look inside our detention centers and the <em>corporate<\/em> <em>greed<\/em> and institutionalized <em>xenophobia<\/em> that <em>fuel<\/em> them&#8230;.<\/h4>\n<p><strong><em>solely<\/em><\/strong> means <em>only<\/em>. <em><strong>shape<\/strong><\/em> means<em> form<\/em>. a <a href=\"http:\/\/bit.ly\/glimpse-definition\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong><em>glimpse<\/em><\/strong><\/a> is <em>a limited view<\/em>. <em><strong>the promised land<\/strong><\/em>, is a biblical reference that in modern contexts means <em>a great, happy place<\/em> and in paiz&#8217;s example refers to the united states. <em><strong>corporate<\/strong><\/em> is pronounced with two syllables and the final syllable contains a <a href=\"https:\/\/richyrocks.com\/coolenglish\/the-schwa-or-the-shwuh\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>schwa (shwuh<\/strong>)<\/a> sound. listen to the correct pronunciation <a wars do) with a u.s.-led <em>coup<\/em> against our <em>democratically<\/em> elected president. the conflict that <em>ensued<\/em> was <em>fueled<\/em> by an oppressive, u.s.-backed military that <em>grew<\/em> increasingly violent against civilians, especially the indigenous majority who lived in the countryside. <em>by the time<\/em> the war ended almost four decades later, 200,000 people <em>had died<\/em>, leaving the country <em>ravaged<\/em>. <em>ripe<\/em> for gangs, narcos, and corruption. two decades later, we\u2019re still <em>picking up the pieces<\/em>&#8230;.the current migration patterns into the US are <em>inextricably<\/em> linked to this historical context.
