mayor<\/strong><\/i> is the top executive in a city or town<\/i>. <\/i><\/strong> means l\u00f3pez obrador was previously<\/i> mayor of mexico city. leftist<\/strong><\/i> <\/i>indicates that his proposals, positions and ideas represent the political left<\/i>. <\/strong><\/i> is swear<\/a><\/i>, promise<\/i>. graft<\/i><\/strong> is corruption,<\/i> <\/i>.<\/p>\n

promises to demilitarize the battle against the country\u2019s criminal organizations and has even explored a divisive, albeit<\/i> vague, proposal for a criminal amnesty so that gangsters curb<\/i> the violence.<\/h4>\n

albeit<\/i><\/strong> is although<\/i> or if<\/i>. curb<\/a><\/strong><\/i> means limit<\/i>, reduce<\/i>.<\/p>\n

regardless<\/i> of what amlo proposes to remedy mexico’s social problems, his detractors <\/i><\/strong>(critics) generally say he is a socialist with plans to turn mexico into<\/a> castro’s cuba or chavez’s venezuela. but in<\/a> a piece by kate linthicum <\/strong>on the<\/span> la times <\/strong>website, david smilde<\/strong> of the washington office on latin america<\/strong> is quoted<\/a> saying<\/p>\n

if u get beyond<\/i> the rhetoric<\/i> and look at his actual<\/i> record, he seems like a moderate progressive trying to work outside of mexico’s traditional political class.<\/h4>\n

and linthicum observes that<\/p>\n

so far<\/i>, the criticism of lopez obrador doesn’t seem to be working. his pledges<\/i> to reduce inequality have won him broad<\/i> support, particularly in the poorest parts of the country.<\/h4>\n

and on bloomberg, cattan and reel present the same reality for amlo.<\/p>\n

the millions who dwell<\/i> in mexico\u2019s impoverished countryside remain his ever-reliable<\/i> base,….but it\u2019s the residents of mexico\u2019s north, in cities such as<\/i> monterrey, who will determine whether<\/i> this year is different for him from 2006 or 2012.<\/h4>\n

dwell<\/strong><\/i> <\/i>means live<\/i>. ever<\/a><\/strong><\/i> in this example is always<\/i>. reliable<\/a><\/strong><\/i> means dependable<\/i>, devoted<\/i>. such as<\/i><\/strong> is for presenting examples. whether<\/i><\/strong> is similar to if<\/i>.<\/p>\n
