{"id":7175,"date":"2018-01-23T16:26:32","date_gmt":"2018-01-23T22:26:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/richyrocks.com\/?p=7175"},"modified":"2024-06-18T12:36:11","modified_gmt":"2024-06-18T18:36:11","slug":"shithole-also-asshole-butthole","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/richyrocks.com\/coolenglish\/shithole-also-asshole-butthole\/","title":{"rendered":"shithole: how offensive is it?  and how is it different from butthole and asshole?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>thanks to\u00a0 offensive comments <a href=\"https:\/\/www.factcheck.org\/2018\/01\/trump-say-immigration-meeting\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">made by president trump about immigration<\/a> and the subsequent <a href=\"https:\/\/richyrocks.com\/coolenglish\/tag\/outrage-definition\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">outrage<\/a>, <strong><em>shithole<\/em><\/strong> has become the hottest word of the new year. but if u are not familiar with idiomatic english, u could easily confuse <em>shithole<\/em> with <strong><em>asshole<\/em><\/strong> and <strong><em>butthole<\/em><\/strong>. they&#8217;re different though, and that&#8217;s the motivation for the newest video on the<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"shithole (also asshole &amp; butthole)\" width=\"758\" height=\"426\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/D9o7qmgQvRw?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>listen for this\u00a0 at :05<\/p>\n<h4><strong>that would be appropriate,\u00a0<em><u>wouldn&#8217;t it<\/u>?<\/em><\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>because the statement (that would be appropriate) is affirmative, the tag (wouldn&#8217;t it?) is negative.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>take it to the streets<\/strong><\/em> at :20\u00a0 gives the idea of a <em>public protest<\/em>. it is very similar to the title of this classic by <strong>the doobie brothers<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Takin&#039; It To The Streets - The Doobie Brothers (1976)\" width=\"758\" height=\"569\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/2rxWPEdYCnI?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>at :25 in the richyrocks vid,\u00a0<em>ain&#8217;t no denying<\/em> is used to talk about the realities that trump&#8217;s presidency represents is an informal substitute for\u00a0<em>isn&#8217;t<\/em>, means <em>reject<\/em>.\u00a0 one of those realities is that the publicity that trump generates often makes his comments good material for cool english practice here on richyrocks.com.<\/p>\n<p>his english receives more coverage than anyone else in the world, (for that reason) the titles <em>english vocabulary coach in chief<\/em> at :30 and <em>english vocabulary emperor<\/em> at :37.\u00a0 <strong><em>in-chief<\/em><\/strong> is often added to the end of a presidential responsibility. for example, when the president needs to give an explanation to the public, the media may refer to him as the <em>explainer-in-chief<\/em>. or when there is a disaster or national tragedy, it&#8217;s common to see the president called the <em>consoler in-chief<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/richyrocks.com\/coolenglish\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/200w.gif\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-7200\" src=\"https:\/\/richyrocks.com\/coolenglish\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/200w.gif\" alt=\"a gazelle swallowing\" width=\"200\" height=\"275\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h5><em>a gazelle\u00a0<strong><u>swallowing<\/u><\/strong>. kinda .
