Slarta John ( Official Video ) Remedy\" width=\"758\" height=\"569\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/qOJF2t_XXHM?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>on top of that\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0(at :48 in the schwa video) means <em>additionally<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/bit.ly\/kinda-examples-richyrocks\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em><strong>kinda<\/strong><\/em><\/a> in the phrase <em>kinda abstract<\/em> at :58 is not precise. it means <em>a little<\/em> or <em>more or less<\/em>.<\/p>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: center;\"><a title=\"richyrocks english on youtube\" random<\/em>. i did select the number <em>arbitrarily<\/em>, but to feel completely comfortable with the concepts of english phonetics, 100 hours might not be a totally unrealistic estimate.<\/p>\n<p>in the sentence <em>professional people ain&#8217;t got 100 hours to learn the sound alphabet<\/em>, spoken on the video from\u00a0 1:30-1:36, <em><strong>ain&#8217;t got<\/strong><\/em> is an informal phrase that replaces <em>haven&#8217;t got<\/em>, the structure that can replace the verb <em>have<\/em>.\u00a0 the title of this song by <strong>david lee roth<\/strong> is another example of <em>ain&#8217;t got.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"David Lee Roth - Just A Gigolo \/ I Ain&#039;t Got Nobody (1985) (Music Video - Dave TV Version)\" width=\"758\" height=\"426\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/ui-zBq-f5XA?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; noreferrer\"><em>ain&#8217;t<\/em><\/a>&#8212;<em>\u00a0u wanna tell yourself that it <u>ain&#8217;t<\/u><\/em>. in this sentence, <em>ain&#8217;t<\/em> replaces <em>isn&#8217;t<\/em>.\u00a0 <em>ain&#8217;t<\/em> can also replace <a href=\"http:\/\/bit.ly\/present-perfect_songs\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>present perfect<\/strong><\/a> in the negative.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/bit.ly\/embrace-richyrocks\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em><strong>embrace<\/strong><\/em><\/a>\u00a0in the line <em>embrace the beauty of our times<\/em> (at 2:00) means <em>accept<\/em>\u00a0<em>with enthusiasm<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>at 2:10 the observation is that <em>dictionaries don&#8217;t even agree. <u>they got<\/u> different phonetic spellings for the same word.<\/em>\u00a0<strong><em>they got<\/em><\/strong> is a <strong>reduction<\/strong> of <em>they&#8217;ve<\/em> (they have). the reduction of the &#8220;v&#8221; sound in english is common.<\/p>\n<p>in frank zappa&#8217;s song criticizing the california work ethic, he calls bad workers<em><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>flakes<\/em>, which is also the title of the song.\u00a0 <em><strong>flakes<\/strong><\/em> has multiple examples of <em>they got<\/em>, including the lines <em>swear to god\u00a0<\/em><em><u>they got<\/u><\/em><em>\u00a0the most, at every business on the allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>there is another example of <em>ain&#8217;t<\/em> at 2:15 in the phrase\u00a0<strong><em>i ain&#8217;t naming no names<\/em><\/strong>, which means <em>i&#8217;m not going to say exactly who i&#8217;m talking about.<\/em>\u00a0a few seconds later i do in fact <em>name the names<\/em> of the online dictionaries i use most often.<\/p>\n<p>the expression <a href=\"http:\/\/bit.ly\/all-over-the-place-def\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong><em>all over the place<\/em><\/strong><\/a>\u00a0at 3:00 means <em>everywhere<\/em>. like this kids&#8217; tv show produced by the <strong>bbc<\/strong> that films in various locations around the world.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"All Over The Place USA Theme Song\" width=\"758\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>in the sentence\u00a0<em>you&#8217;re not gonna know what actual vowel, what actual letter is making that sound<\/em>\u00a0at 3:02,\u00a0\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/bit.ly\/actual-examples-richyrocks\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong><em>actual<\/em><\/strong><\/a>\u00a0means <em>in reality<\/em>\u00a0or<em> in fact<\/em>. it has nothing to do with time and does NOT translate into spanish as <em>actual<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>possibly the most important points of the video are mentioned from 3:10 to 3:30. the schwa should be called the\u00a0<em>shwuh <\/em>\u00a0to reflect the sound it represents; and the schwa looks like a lowercase <strong>e<\/strong> turned <a href=\"http:\/\/bit.ly\/upside-down-definition\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em><strong>upside down<\/strong><\/em><\/a>\u00a0(inverted).<\/p>\n<h5><em><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-medium target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>has got structure<\/strong><\/a> from the song venus, <em><strong>she&#8217;s (she has) got it<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>are not to be found<\/strong><\/em> at 5:47 is another example of passive voice. <strong>the tallest man on earth<\/strong> uses the same structure in the title of this song, but in the future.<\/p>\n<p><iframe reason) the sarcasm graphic at 5:55 in the schwa video.<\/p>\n<p>at 6:30,\u00a0<em><strong>definition<\/strong><\/em> is the word being pronounced.\u00a0 all words that end with <em>-tion<\/em> schwa sound the whole <u>goddamn<\/u>\u00a0time! <\/em>(6:23) <strong><em>goll dang<\/em><\/strong> is a softer, nicer version of\u00a0<strong><em>goddamn<\/em><\/strong>. both are used to emphasize
