piss away in al pacino&#8217;s any given sunday pep talk"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>perhaps the most memorable scene in the movie <em><strong>any given sunday<\/strong><\/em> is al pacino&#8217;s <strong><em><a title=\"more on al pacino's pep talk in any given sunday\" href=\"http:\/\/richyrocks.com\/inch-by-inch-pound-for-pound\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">pep talk<\/a>\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>(inspirational words) to his fictional football team the <strong>miami sharks. <\/strong><\/p>\n<h6><a href=\"http:\/\/richyrocks.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/shit-and-piss-expressions.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-603\" src=\"http:\/\/richyrocks.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/shit-and-piss-expressions-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"shit and piss expressions\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/richyrocks.com\/coolenglish\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/shit-and-piss-expressions-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/richyrocks.com\/coolenglish\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/shit-and-piss-expressions.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>f<\/a><\/h6>\n<h6><em>the head coach (al pacino) &amp; quarterback (jamie foxx) of the fictional miami sharks<\/em><\/h6>\n<p>the sharks have qualified for the playoffs, but had a terrible finish\u00a0to the regular season and the team&#8217;s chemistry has become a problem<strong>.<\/strong>\u00a0the speech contains several great expressions including vocabulary\u00a0based on the bodily functions referred to as #1 and #2 in the bathroom (<em><strong>piss<\/strong><\/em> &amp; <em><strong>shit<\/strong><\/em> respectively).<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_602\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-602\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/richyrocks.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/coach-pissed-away-his-money.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-602 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/richyrocks.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/coach-pissed-away-his-money-300x121.png\" alt=\"coach pissed away his money\" width=\"300\" height=\"121\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-602\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">coach pissed away all his money<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>at :40 pacino tells the team that they can stay where they are and <em>get the <strong>shit<\/strong> kicked out of them<\/em>. \u00a0and at 1:15 he says that he has <em><strong>pissed<\/strong> away all his money<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Any Given Sunday Al Pacino Pre-Game Speech\" width=\"758\" height=\"426\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/oSDhhZtRwFU?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: center;\"><\/h4>\n<p><em>get<\/em> at the beginning of the phrase indicates that they would be on the receiving end of an\u00a0ass-kicking. at :35 the video below from the <strong><\/strong> defines <em>kick the shit out of<\/em>\u00a0as <em>lose horribly<\/em>. clearly coach doesn&#8217;t want his team to lose. \u00a0he wants to motivate them to fight out of the horrible psychological moment they are living together as a team. my mini-<em>pep talk<\/em>\u00a0for frustrated english learners at the end of the video is substantially less fiery than coach pacino&#8217;s.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"kick the shit out of\" width=\"758\" height=\"426\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Vre6puJoQkc?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer;
