part two of the first season of the get down<\/strong><\/span>, the spectacular musical drama, was released earlier this month. \u00a0the visual imagery, lyrical participation by\u00a0executive producer nas<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0and several strong acting performances are just a few of the elements that\u00a0create\u00a0an entertaining and emotional perspective on\u00a0the origins of hip-hop music. not everyone shares that opinion though.<\/p>\n

when it premiered last summer, [creator] baz luhrmann\u2019s early-days-of-hip-hop netflix extravaganza the get down<\/em> was as hyped as<\/em> any streaming show has ever been…….but a lot less attention has been paid to the show\u2019s second batch<\/em> of episodes, which went online a week ago. this is fair<\/em>: the show wasn\u2019t, and isn\u2019t, great.<\/h4>\n

hyped<\/strong> <\/em><\/a>means publicized, promoted<\/em>. as hyped as<\/em><\/strong> is a typical comparative form<\/a>. the publicity for the get down was equal to or greater than<\/em> any other streaming show ever. batch<\/em><\/strong> is similar to set<\/em> or group<\/em>. fair<\/strong><\/em> <\/a>means just, legitimate<\/em>. the popular song monster<\/em><\/strong> by eminem<\/strong> & rihanna<\/strong> repeats the lyric that’s not fair<\/u><\/em>\u00a0multiple times.<\/p>\n
