today britain<\/em> is voting on whether or not to\u00a0exit<\/em> the european union. by combining britain<\/em> and exit <\/em>the word brexit<\/strong> <\/em>was born to talk about this situation. the video below, a quick take from the bloomberg youtube channel<\/strong>, starts by saying<\/p>\n

britain and the european union may be in for a messy<\/em> divorce.<\/h4>\n

the observation at :20 in the video is that public opinion is split<\/strong><\/em> (evenly divided)<\/p>\n

an image of london mayor boris johnson<\/strong> appears in the vid when eurosceptics are mentioned. johnson is in fact\u00a0the former<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0(ex) mayor of london. he did not run for re-election last month, and sadiq khan<\/strong>, who is against the brexit, now holds the position.<\/p>\n

prime minister david cameron<\/strong> agrees with khan on this issue. at 1:00 on the video, cameron’s opinion is reported<\/p>\n

a break-up<\/em> would be an economic disaster…….[and] the\u00a0brexit<\/em> would create a decade of uncertainty<\/em> for financial markets, investment and the wider<\/em> economy.<\/h4>\n

break-up<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0means ending a\u00a0relationship<\/em>. uncertainty<\/strong><\/em> is doubt <\/em>or confusion<\/em>. wider<\/strong><\/em> means more british people will be affected,\u00a0not just the financial sector.<\/p>\n

finally, the video foresees<\/em><\/strong> (anticipates, predicts) that<\/p>\n

whichever<\/em> way the vote goes, britain’s long love-hate relationship with the eu will rumble on<\/em>.<\/h4>\n

whichever<\/strong><\/em> means regardless<\/a> of which side wins the election<\/em>. rumble on<\/strong><\/em> means continue<\/em>.<\/p>\n
