<em>know what i&#8217;m sayin<\/em>.<\/h4>\n<p><em><strong><span style=\"color: #993366;\">purple rain<\/span> <\/strong><\/em>was prince&#8217;s most popular album. it was the soundtrack to the <a href=\"http:\/\/richyrocks.com\/rudolph-the-rest-of-the-reindeer\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">eponymous<\/a> semi-biographical movie. \u00a0<em><strong>come out<\/strong><\/em> means <em>release<\/em>. \u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/richyrocks.com\/band-aid-30\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em><strong>the shit<\/strong><\/em> <\/a>is <em>really cool, excellent<\/em>. \u00a0<strong><em>know what i&#8217;m saying<\/em><\/strong>, as well as <em><strong>know what i mean<\/strong><\/em>, are commonly used in storytelling to verify that listeners are following the free<\/strong>\u00a0is, at 1:10 he says<\/p>\n<h4>i heard <em>mad<\/em> cats <em>like,<\/em> &#8220;yo, shalamar got a new girl in there, man. that <em>bitch<\/em> fine <em>like a mother fucker<\/em>.&#8221;<\/h4>\n<p><em><strong>mad <\/strong><\/em>means<em> many,<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>a lot of <\/em>in this usage. <em><strong>cats<\/strong> <\/em>is a cool way to say\u00a0<em>guys, men<\/em>.<em><strong>\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/richyrocks.com\/interpreting-president-trump-speaking-to-his-supporters\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">like<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0<\/em>can be<em>\u00a0<\/em>used to introduce dialogue, especially when telling a story.\u00a0 <strong><em>bitch<\/em><\/strong> in this story means <em>woman<\/em>, but it is often considered offensive, especially in formal situations. \u00a0<em><strong>like a mother fucker<\/strong><\/em> is for emphasis. \u00a0the complete idea is that because of the androgyny in the way\u00a0micki free dressed when he joined the band\u00a0<strong>shalamar<\/strong> in 1984, a significant portion of the\u00a0public thought he was a sexy woman.<\/p>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: center;\"><a <strong><em>crew<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0(people, entourage) to his house to listen to music. \u00a0at 1:48, charlie refers to the music that prince was playing:<\/p>\n<h4>the tracks was <em>slammin<\/em>, <em>know what i mean<\/em>?\u00a0listening to the music and everything at the <em>crib.<\/em> <em>grooving<\/em> . he had girls over there. he had a nice environment. it was <em>tight<\/em>.<\/h4>\n<p><em><strong>slammin<\/strong> <\/em>and <a href=\"http:\/\/richyrocks.com\/tight-loose-not-lose\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em><strong>tight<\/strong><\/em><\/a> mean <em>really cool.<\/em> <strong><em>crib<\/em><\/strong> can mean <em>a baby&#8217;s bed<\/em>, but in this story, it means prince&#8217;s <em>house<\/em>. <em><strong>grooving<\/strong> \u00a0at 2:40 murphy is surprised to see\u00a0how prince&#8217;s team is dressed when they are ready to start playing.<\/p>\n<h4><em>they still got<\/em> the same <em>shit<\/em> on they <em>be<\/em> <em>wearin<\/em> at the club<\/h4>\n<p><em><strong>they still got<\/strong><\/em> is a reduction of the <a href=\"http:\/\/richyrocks.com\/english-practice-from-a-song-for-brazil\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>have got structure<\/strong><\/a>. <em>they&#8217;ve still got<\/em> is a contraction of <em>they have still got<\/em> which is the same as <em>they still have<\/em>. shit in this situation means clothes.\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/richyrocks.com\/a-snowman-gots-a-heart\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em><strong>wear<\/strong><\/em><\/a>\u00a0(NOT use) is the correct verb to talk about <em>the clothes people have on<\/em>. \u00a0<em>be wearing<\/em> is an informal structure that is representative of murphy&#8217;s storytelling style. <em>were wearing<\/em> is more basketball moves: <em><strong>he\u00a0crossin cats like iverson<\/strong><\/em>. \u00a0<em>crossin<\/em> is short for <strong><em>the crossover move<\/em><\/strong>, a misdirection dribble play that hall of famer <strong>allen iverson<\/strong> was famous for. \u00a0 in this video, a young allen iverson <em>crosses<\/em> <a href=\"http:\/\/richyrocks.com\/the-ceiling-is-the-roof\/\"
