have u ever heard anyone brag<\/a> that their car was\u00a0imported from toluca<\/span><\/strong>? \u00a0like toluca was an iconic global city and the vehicles that come from here are built with the same charisma that the city is famous for? probably not. maybe u weren’t aware of all the autos that toluca produces. or maybe you’ve never even heard of toluca, which kinda sucks in an ironic and underhanded <\/strong><\/em>(dishonest) way.\u00a0 there were at least two great opportunities in the early 2010s for auto makers to let the world know the important role toluca plays in the industry.<\/p>\n

during super bowls xlv<\/strong> (2011) and xlvi<\/strong> (2012), chrysler commercials featuring the imported from detroit slogan<\/em><\/strong> (motto, advertising phrase) made a big impact. in 2011, eminem<\/strong> was featured<\/a> in this spot<\/em><\/strong> (ad) that embraced detroit’s grit<\/em><\/strong><\/a> (spirit, toughness<\/a>) and determination, and in 2012, clint eastwood<\/strong> delivered<\/a> a halftime pep talk<\/a> (motivation speech) to the american public that sounded like a political<\/a> speech.<\/p>\n

additionally, in 2011 jennifer lopez<\/strong> appeared in fiat 500<\/strong> commercials<\/a> driving around in the bronx<\/strong> and talking about how the streets inspired her to be tough<\/a><\/em><\/strong> (strong, resilient) and stay sharp<\/strong> <\/em>(alert, at her best). \u00a0she also simulated driving a fiat 500<\/a> during her performance that year at the american music awards<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

during all of the glamorous publicity and rebranding<\/strong><\/em> (image changing) of cities with not so great reputations, toluca didn’t get one shout out<\/strong> <\/em>(thanks, praise<\/a>, recognition) even though the fiat 500 and various other popular chrysler models\u00a0have been manufactured and imported from here for years.<\/p>\n
