presidential hopeful donald trump<\/strong> spoke at my alma mater, the university of iowa<\/strong>, tuesday night in an old building where i played a lot of basketball and learned yoga back in the day,\u00a0the university of iowa field house. he was campaigning for the iowa caucus which will be held next monday, february 1 and invited several iowa hawkeye athletes on stage with him.<\/p>\n

not surprisingly, trump said\u00a0several things calculated to\u00a0generate a positive response from iowans.\u00a0an article by james q. lynch<\/strong><\/a> in the cedar rapids gazette<\/strong>, the newspaper in iowa’s second largest city, reported that the donald<\/a><\/p>\n

promised to make sure that the iowa caucuses remain first-in-the-nation and reminded his audience \u201ci\u2019m a fan of ethanol<\/em>.”<\/h4>\n

gop<\/strong><\/em> is a nickname for the republicans. it stands for g<\/span>rand o<\/span>ld p<\/span>arty<\/em>. \u00a0show up<\/strong><\/em> <\/a>means attend, arrive<\/em>. turn out<\/strong> <\/em>in this context means making sure they show up.<\/em><\/p>\n

fellow<\/em> republican carly fiorina stopped in iowa city, she was seen arm and arm with basketball player jarrod uthoff.<\/h4>\n

fellow<\/strong><\/em><\/a> indicates that both fiorina and trump are republicans.<\/p>\n

at the beginning of the year, fiorina also tried to demonstrate to iowans\u00a0she’s a true hawkeye with this highly criticized tweet<\/p>\n
