the possibility of kobe bryant<\/strong><\/a> replacing jerry west<\/strong> as the nba logo has been a topic of conversation since kobe’s tragic death in january of 2020. \u00a0nba<\/strong> commissioner adam silver<\/strong> addressed the issue in his press conference the day before the nba all-star game<\/strong> last month. the l.a. times<\/strong> reported that<\/a><\/p>\n

in response to a question about widespread<\/em> support to update the nba logo with a likeness<\/em> of kobe bryant replacing the silhouette<\/em> of jerry west, silver said there are \u201cno ongoing<\/em> discussions\u201d about changing the logo; \u201cthe logo is iconic.\u201d [silver added] that it doesn\u2019t feel like it\u2019s the appropriate<\/em> moment to change it. silver said the league could still one day revisit<\/em> updating the design, but reminded<\/em> reporters that the nba has renamed<\/em> the all-star game\u2019s most valuable player honor after<\/em> bryant.<\/h4>\n

widespread<\/em><\/strong><\/a> means extensive<\/em>. a likeness<\/em><\/strong><\/a> is an image that looks like<\/em> a person; kobe bryant or jerry west in this case. a silhouette<\/em><\/strong><\/a> is an outline<\/em>, a shadow<\/em>. ongoing<\/em> <\/strong><\/a>means continuous<\/em>. appropriate<\/em><\/strong> is an adjective and not a verb, so the -ate ending<\/a><\/strong> should be pronounced as a shwuh sound<\/a><\/strong>: uh-PRO-pre-ut<\/em>. the a<\/em> at the beginning of the word is also a shwuh sound. revisit<\/em><\/strong> means talk about again<\/em>. remind<\/em><\/strong><\/a> means cause to remember<\/em>. named after<\/em><\/strong> means the mvp award at the all-star game now has kobe’s name<\/em>.<\/p>\n
