cris collinsworth (tampabay.com)<\/em><\/h6>\n<p>michaels uses the phrasal verb <em><strong>break up<\/strong><\/em> (deflect, knock away) at :08 on the first vid<\/p>\n<h4><strong>wilson to kearse &amp; it&#8217;s <em>broken up<\/em> again.\u00a0<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>and\u00a0again at :40<\/p>\n<h4><strong>so [butler] <em>breaks up<\/em> the <em>play<\/em>, but <em>at the end of the day<\/em>, look at that!<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">a <em><strong>play<\/strong><\/em> is <em>an act or move inside of a game<\/em>. the super bowl is a <em>game<\/em>, NOT a <em>play<\/em>. \u00a0<\/span><em><strong>at the end of the day<\/strong><\/em><\/span> is a fashionable, but overused expression that refers to the <em>conclusion<\/em> or <em>most important point<\/em>.<\/p>\n<h6><em><a href=\"http:\/\/richyrocks.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/jermaine-kearse.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-114\" src=\"http:\/\/richyrocks.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/jermaine-kearse-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"jermaine-kearse\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/richyrocks.com\/coolenglish\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/jermaine-kearse-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/richyrocks.com\/coolenglish\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/jermaine-kearse.jpg 650w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/em><\/h6>\n<h6><em>it looked like butler had broken up this play, <\/em><\/h6>\n<h6><\/h6>\n<h6><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-83\" src=\"http:\/\/richyrocks.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/kearse-catch-ii-300x169.jpg\" alt=\"kearse catch ii super bowl xlix ratings\" width=\"300\" height=\"169\" srcset=\"https:\/\/richyrocks.com\/coolenglish\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/kearse-catch-ii-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/richyrocks.com\/coolenglish\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/kearse-catch-ii.jpg 576w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/h6>\n<h6><em>but kearse wound up with the ball (getty i<\/em><em>mages\/mike ehrman)<\/em><\/h6>\n<p>there was some confusion as to whether kearse had made the catch. at :10 michaels asks<\/p>\n<h4><strong>and is it? but somehow&#8230;did he <em>wind up<\/em> with the football?<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>then michaels and collinsworth,\u00a0while watching the replay, make sure that the ball didn&#8217;t hit the <em><strong>ground<\/strong><\/em> (earth, grass). if the ball touches\u00a0the <a href=\"http:\/\/richyrocks.com\/grinding\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>ground<\/em> <\/a>before the player has possession it isn&#8217;t a catch.<\/p>\n<h6><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-112\" src=\"http:\/\/richyrocks.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/jerome-lane-pick-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"jerome lane pick\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/richyrocks.com\/coolenglish\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/jerome-lane-pick-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/richyrocks.com\/coolenglish\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/jerome-lane-pick.jpg 420w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/h6>\n<h6><em>seattle&#8217;s jeremy lane picked off patriots quarterback and super bowl mvp tom brady in the first half but was injured on the play and didn&#8217;t return. (kathy willens\/associated press)<\/em><\/h6>\n<p>the title of the second youtube video is<\/p>\n<h4>malcolm butler <em>picks off<\/em> russell wilson to <em>seal<\/em> super bowl xlix victory<\/h4>\n<p>the phrasal verb <em><strong>pick off<\/strong><\/em> is not actually used in the video, but it is a synonym for <em>intercept<\/em>. <strong><em>seal<\/em><\/strong> means <a href=\"https:\/\/richyrocks.com\/coolenglish\/tag\/clinch-definition\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>clinch<\/em><\/a>, <em>guarantee<\/em>.<\/p>\n<h6><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-108\" src=\"http:\/\/richyrocks.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/butler-on-the-goal-line-300x168.jpg\" alt=\"butler on the goal line\" width=\"300\" height=\"168\" \/><\/h6>\n<h6><em>butler&#8217;s unforgettable goal line interception\u00a0(espn.com)<\/em><\/h6>\n<p>at :04 on the second video, michaels shouts<\/p>\n<h4>&#8230;pass is intercepted at the <em>goal line<\/em> by malcolm butler. unreal. butler,\u00a0who almost made the phenomenal play that <em>wound up<\/em> in kearse&#8217;s arms.<\/h4>\n<p><em>wound up<\/em> is the past tense of <a href=\"https:\/\/richyrocks.com\/coolenglish\/tag\/wind-up-definition\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em><strong>wind up<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0<\/a>which is also used in the first video (see above).\u00a0it means <em>conclude <\/em>or\u00a0<em>finish after a process<\/em> and is similar to <a href=\"https:\/\/richyrocks.com\/coolenglish\/tag\/end-up-definition\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>end up<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n<h6><a href=\"http:\/\/richyrocks.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/goal-line.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-109\" src=\"http:\/\/richyrocks.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/goal-line.jpg\" alt=\"goal line\" width=\"275\" height=\"183\" \/><\/a><\/h6>\n<h6><em>the goal line (fineartamerica.com)<\/em><\/h6>\n<p><em><strong>goal line<\/strong><\/em> is <em>the line that must be crossed for a player to score a touchdown<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>at :40, collinsworth comments three times<\/p>\n<h4>i can&#8217;t believe <em>the call<\/em><\/h4>\n<p>this is another application of the word <em><strong>call<\/strong><\/em>:<em>a football coach telling his players what play to run<\/em>.<\/p>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/bit.ly\/richyrocks-youtube-subscribe\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">fun english practice\u00a0<img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-smiley\" src=\"http:\/\/richyrocks.com\/wp-includes\/images\/smilies\/simple-smile.png\" alt=\":)\" \/>\u00a0richyrocks english on youtube<\/a><\/h4>\n<p>michaels demonstrates that he\u00a0has the same opinion\u00a0when he says&#8230;.<\/p>\n<h4><em><strong>me neither<\/strong><\/em><\/h4>\n<p>&#8230;which could also be said <em><strong>me either<\/strong><\/em> and is used to <em>show agreement with a negative statement<\/em> the same way\u00a0<em><strong>too<\/strong><\/em> and <em><strong>also<\/strong><\/em> show agreement with an affirmative statement.<\/p>\n<h6><a href=\"http:\/\/richyrocks.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/carroll-brynn-anderson.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-110\" src=\"http:\/\/richyrocks.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/carroll-brynn-anderson.jpg\" alt=\"carroll brynn anderson\" width=\"280\" height=\"179\" \/><\/a><\/h6>\n<h6><em>pete carroll has taken a lot of criticism for his goal line call.
