autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>the recommendation at :12 is that u <em>might as well<\/em> click on this link from the beginning of the video. <strong><em><a href=\"http:\/\/bit.ly\/might-as-well-definition\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">might as well<\/a><\/em><\/strong> means <em>it&#8217;s a better idea<\/em> to click on this post than not to click on it (good job if that&#8217;s how u got here&#x1f63a;). as the video says at :20, this post will <em>aid u in your educational stimulation<\/em>. <strong><em><a href=\"http:\/\/bit.ly\/aid-def\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">aid<\/a><\/em><\/strong> means <em>help<\/em>, <em>assist<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>follow through<\/em><\/strong>, used at :38, means i didn&#8217;t really <em>continue with that idea <\/em>or <em>try to make it happen<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-10030\" src=\"https:\/\/richyrocks.com\/coolenglish\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/ftw9y-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"meme of leonardo dicaprio as the great gatsby raising a glass. the text reads: to all the people who follow through with their new years resolutions\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/richyrocks.com\/coolenglish\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/ftw9y-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/richyrocks.com\/coolenglish\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/ftw9y.jpg 490w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<h5><em>it&#8217;s common to make new year&#8217;s resolutions at the beginning of the year. it&#8217;s also common not to <\/em><u><em>follow through<\/em><\/u><em> on them\u00a0<\/em><\/h5>\n<p><strong><em>what in tarnation?<\/em><\/strong> (1:00) is a country sounding expression that shows <em>confusion<\/em>, <em>frustration<\/em> or <em>surprise<\/em>. it is used in reference to the misheard lyric <em>horses in the bag<\/em>.<\/p>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: center;\"><a title=\"richyrocks english on youtube\" href=\"http:\/\/bit.ly\/richyrocks-youtube-subscribe\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">fun esl practice <\/a><span class=\"wp-smiley emoji emoji-smile\" title=\":)\"><a title=\"richyrocks english on youtube\" href=\"http:\/\/bit.ly\/richyrocks-youtube-subscribe\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-smiley\" src=\"http:\/\/i1.wp.com\/richyrocks.com\/coolenglish\/wp-includes\/images\/smilies\/simple-smile.png?zoom=1.5&amp;w=940\" alt=\":)\" width=\"21\" height=\"21\" \/><\/a><\/span><a title=\"richyrocks english on youtube\" href=\"http:\/\/bit.ly\/richyrocks-youtube-subscribe\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> richyrocks english on youtube<\/a><\/h4>\n<p>two more country phrases: <strong><em>that don&#8217;t make no god damn sense either<\/em><\/strong> (1:09) and <strong><em>i can&#8217;t make head nor tail of it<\/em><\/strong> also express confusion over the line <em>horses in the back<\/em>. <strong><em><a href=\"http:\/\/bit.ly\/make-sense-def\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">make sense<\/a><\/em><\/strong> means it&#8217;s <em>understandable<\/em> or <em>logical<\/em>. <strong><em><a href=\"http:\/\/bit.ly\/either-definition\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">either<\/a><\/em><\/strong> is used to show the agreement of two negative statements, in this case <em>horses in the bag<\/em> and <em>horses in the back<\/em> <u>are both<\/u> confusing. the phrase <em>head nor tail<\/em> gives the idea that <em>neither the top nor the bottom can be identified<\/em>. the explanation for <em>horses in the back<\/em> that makes the most sense to me is that it is a reference to a <strong>porsche <\/strong>that has its engine in the back; the horses referring to the <em><strong>horsepower<\/strong><\/em> (measure of power) of the engine. that&#8217;s not what lil nas x says in this tweet though.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">when i wrote the line \u201ci got the horses in the back\u201d it was in reference to the economic downfall and political tension going on within the united states<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 nope (@LilNasX) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/LilNasX\/status\/1081309069342896129?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">January 4, 2019<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>the second misheard lyric, <em>hat is mighty black<\/em> (1;18) sounds <a href=\"http:\/\/bit.ly\/pretty-definition\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">pretty<\/a> country too. <strong><em><a href=\"http:\/\/bit.ly\/mighty-def\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">mighty<\/a><\/em><\/strong> ( a word which also sounds\u00a0<u><em>mighty<\/em><\/u><em>\u00a0country<\/em>) is understood as <em>very<\/em> or <em>strong <\/em>or<em> powerful<\/em>, like in the title of this nes video game .<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-10018\" src=\"https:\/\/richyrocks.com\/coolenglish\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/Mighty_Final_Fight_American_cover-215x300.jpg\" alt=\"mighty final fight box\" width=\"215\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/richyrocks.com\/coolenglish\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/Mighty_Final_Fight_American_cover-215x300.jpg 215w, https:\/\/richyrocks.com\/coolenglish\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/Mighty_Final_Fight_American_cover.jpg 267w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 215px) 100vw, 215px\" \/><\/p>\n<h5><em>a powerful game for the nes (wikipedia)<\/em><\/h5>\n<p>the brand porsche is mentioned in the lyrics of old town road and at 1:50 in toluca lyric 7. the rhyme of porsche and <em>porch<\/em> (1:53) is maybe the best rhyme in the song. a <em><strong>porch<\/strong><\/em> is a <em>comfortable place for relaxing in front of a house<\/em>. in the lyric <em>u ain&#8217;t been up off that porch<\/em>, <em>ain&#8217;t<\/em> replaces the <strong>present perfect<\/strong> phrase <em>haven&#8217;t been<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em><a href=\"http:\/\/bit.ly\/aint-def-richyrocks\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ain&#8217;t<\/a><\/em><\/strong> is considered poor grammar, but it is common in song lyrics and <em>country<\/em> styles of speaking and it is extremely versatile. in the line <em>u ain&#8217;t gotta whip a porsche dummy <\/em>at 1:55<em>,<\/em> <em>ain&#8217;t<\/em> replaces <em>haven&#8217;t<\/em> in the <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/bit.ly\/have-got-examples\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">have got structure<\/a><\/strong>. and at 3:38 in the video, in the line <em>i guess billy ray ain&#8217;t hannah montana&#8217;s daddy no more<\/em>, <em>ain&#8217;t<\/em> replaces <em>isn&#8217;t<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>like the video says, the &#8220;up&#8221; in &#8220;<em>up<\/em> off that porch&#8221; is not necessary. it&#8217;s common to hear in music <a href=\"http:\/\/bit.ly\/though-examples\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">though<\/a>, frequently to indicate <em>a location<\/em>. <strong>dmx<\/strong>&#8216;s hip hop classic <strong><em>party up (up in here)<\/em><\/strong> is a great example.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"DMX - Party Up (Up In Here) (Enhanced Video, Edited)\" width=\"758\" height=\"426\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/thIVtEOtlWM?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer;
